Dylan "Walking"

I tried to post this video with my last post but it would not upload for me. So here it is finally!
I should also say that I do not know why Dylan has that toy in his mouth, I guess he was pretending it was his pacifier!

Months 8 and 9 (Finally)

I guess I had better post this blog before Dylan turns 10 months old!

I can't believe how busy we have been and I haven't posted since Dylan was 7 months old.
So some of the things that have gone on in the last couple of months have been:

  • Dylan took his first airplane ride when we flew to Hawaii. He did so good on the flight and only cried a little when we started to land.
  • While we were in Hawaii, Dylan pulled himself up into a standing position.
  • Dylan finally got his first two teeth. He now has his two bottom teeth and he is working on getting his front top teeth.
  • While he was teething Dylan got really sick and we had to take him to the urgent care because his fever spiked and he was losing weight. He ended up having an ear infection and had to go on antibiotics.
  • Dylan can now wave bye-bye and he can say "more" when he wants more food.
  • He has started to share his food with us. Yummy!
  • Dylan is starting to walk on his own. A few days after he turned 9 months he took 3 steps in the grass. I think that he has taken at least 5 steps, so far, on his own!
  • Dylan had his 9 month check-up a few days ago. He is only 18 pounds and 28 inches tall. He was in the 40th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight. I was a little concerned with how small he is because Jeffrey was almost 18 pounds at 18 weeks. The doctor said that he is perfect and that I didn't need to worry.
  • A funny thing that Dylan learned two days ago was how to growl. At random points in the day he just growls and we aren't quite sure what it means.
Dylan is such a good baby. He is very content and easy going. He loves to play with Jeffrey and in Jeffrey's room with all of the big boy toys. He loves to eat (especially sweets) and he loves to take baths.

7 Months Old!

Dylan has accomplished so much this last month:
  • I bought him his first sippy cup and he loves to drink from it and chew on it.
  • On January 14th Dylan started crawling! I don't have a good video to post because every time we tried to video him crawling he just wanted to roll around!
  • He can now feed himself his snacks.
  • A few days after turning 7 months he figured out how to put himself into a sitting position.
  • Just a couple of days ago I put him in his crib to play and he pulled himself up into a standing position. I guess it is time to lower his crib so he doesn't fall out!
Sorry this post had to be short and sweet, it is late and we are leaving for Hawaii tomorrow!

6 Months Old!

Sucking his thumb (not a normal habit)

First Spaghetti

Dylan is now 6 months old! It is so amazing how quickly 6 months have gone by.

We took Dylan to his check up last week and he now weighs 16 pounds 9 ounces and is 25 3/4 inches in height. The doctor said that he is perfect and that he is in the 50th percentile in height and weight. When we came home I looked in Jeffrey's baby book to see how much he weighed at the same age. At 18 weeks Jeffrey was already over 17 pounds and at 7 months he was over 20 pounds and 27 1/2 inches tall! It is amazing how different they are.

Dylan is still working on his crawling. He hasn't mastered it completely but he is very close. He can get to anything he wants, even if it across the room, by scooting. A couple of times he will actually crawl but then he reverts back to scooting.

Dylan is doing pretty good with his eating, he doesn't have a very big appetite but we feed him solid food about twice a day. This time around I am making my own baby food, it is pretty easy and I am sure it is saving money too! The other day we pureed a little bit of our spaghetti and Dylan loved it!

Dylan can now sit on his own. It is so nice to be able to sit him down with a few toys and let him play. He occasionally falls over but he is getting stronger every day and keeping himself up more.

Here are just a few pictures from Christmas.

We had a fun time celebrating Jeffrey's 5th Birthday. We had a camo birthday party and had a lot of fun playing pin the tank on the bullseye, pass baby bear (hot potato), having a piƱata and eating cake. Happy 5th Birthday Jeffrey, you are growing up so fast!

Childlike Faith

On Thanksgiving Day, David's Grandma Bea passed away. On December 3rd we had her funeral service. At the end of the service, Jeffrey's Grandpa asked if anyone would like to come up and say anything. With no prompting from us, Jeffrey got up in front of at least 30 people and told them "I want all of you to know that Jesus is very important. If you don't have Jesus in your heart, you will not go to heaven but if you do have Jesus in your heart, you will go to heaven."

It was so amazing for us to see our little boy get up in front of everybody and proclaim the truth.

Matthew 18:3-4
“Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

Luke 18:17
“I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
